Making bread - it is so easy but takes time. An old cookbook the Tassajara Bread Book published in 19070 by Shamhala Press in Boulder is just what any beginner bread maker needs. Ed Brown explains the basics so well and then shows you how to vary the recipe. In this day of high food price what is more enjoyable and economical than making our own bread.

I think that the homebound program is just wonderful! I always wondered if MPL and other libraries in Indiana had a program like this. I work with the developmentally disabled and fortunately they are able to visit all of the MPL facilities and love to visit every week! Keep up the good doings for our community!

Excellent question. I am the associate librarian who leads this storytime. We have used various picture books with rhythmic verse. Some of my favorites are "Crunch Munch" by Jonathan London and "Tanka Tanka Skunk! rhythm and rhyme" by Steve Webb. Because of your suggestion, we are putting together a booklist that will be listed on our kid's web page for Reading Music, Reading Words. If you have more questions about the program call 747-8200 and ask for Jody in the children's room at Muncie Public Library. Thanks

Thanks,

Hi Sheila!

The Friends of Muncie Public Library is a non-profit organization run by volunteers with the goal of supporting the programs and services of Muncie Public Library. They meet every other month. The book sales are one of their major activities. They sell books that are pulled from the MPL circulation collection and books and materials donated by the public. They do a lot of hands-on work sorting the items and preparing for the sales. Much of the business meetings are determining how to allocate the funds from book sales and from membership dues. Some of the Library’s major programs such as the Summer Reading Program for kids are made possible by gifts from the Friends. You can find more information on www.munpl.org, go to about and click on the Friends link. If you are looking for a fun, hands-on volunteer experience you might really enjoy the Friends.

Hope this helps!
