January 8: AMERICAN BORN CHINESE by Gene Luen Yang. Alternates three interrelated stories about the problems of young Chinese Americans trying to participate in the popular culture.

February 12: THE SKIN I’M IN  by Sharon Flake. Thirteen-year-old Maleeka, uncomfortable because her skin is extremely dark, meets a new teacher with a birthmark on her face and makes some discoveries about how to love who she is and what she looks like.

March 11: SHARK GIRL by Kelly Bingham. After a shark attack causes the amputation of her right arm, fifteen-year-old Jane, an aspiring artist, struggles to come to terms with her loss and the changes it imposes on her day-to-day life and her plans for the future.

April 8: Feed by M.T. Anderson. Feeds are a crucial part of life for Titus and his friends. After all, how else would they know where to party on the moon, how to get bargains at Weatherbee & Crotch, or how to accessorize the mysterious lesions everyone’s been getting? But then Titus meets Violet-a girl who decides to fight the feed.
